Main Duties & Responsibilities

Metal Hose Welder cuts hose to length, attaches flanges, fittings and other fittings to fill custom orders for industrial hoses. Picks bolts, nuts and washers as necessary. Interprets orders to determine product needed. Package finished product. Records completed orders in Logbook. Performs inventory functions. Keeps area clean. Performs other duties as assigned by Supervisor or Manager.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Performs various fabrication procedures such as, welding, cutting hoses to length and attaching flanges, fittings and other components for industrial customers

  • Hydrostatically pressure test steam hose assemblies for leak detection, as directed.

    Â
  • Receives and verify incoming parts, material, and supplies; maintains stock areas; prepares sales orders.

    Â
  • Detect and reports equipment, defective material, improper operations, and unusual conditions to supervisor. Works in manner that insures the safety of everyone involved. Exercise proper care in the use of tools and equipment.

  • Maintains quality service by following organization standards.

  • Maintains safe and clean work environment by keeping shelves, pallet area, and workstations neat; maintaining clean shipping area; complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.

  • Completes reports by entering required information.

  • Maintains technical knowledge by attending manufacturer-training program, in-house workshops, and reviewing publications.

  • Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.

  • Academic Requirements:

    Â
  • High School graduate or equivalent; and a minimum of two years manufacturing/hose fabrication experience. Must possess the ability to accurately use measuring tapes and do basic math. Equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered. Reading, writing and communicating effectively in English is essential to this position. Applicant must have, and maintain a clean driving record.

  • Stand for long periods of time

  • Bend down to work with hose lengths on the floor

  • Able to lift 50-75 lb.

  • Receives bolt orders/jobs.

    Â
  • Determine if finished bolts are available. Pick bolts, nuts and washers as necessary.

  • Locate and stage appropriate threaded rod from storage location.

    Â
  • Load material into Bolt Saw.

    Â
  • Cuts bolt material to appropriate length using Bolt Saw according to job requirements.

  • Operate chamfer and stamping machine.
    • Package bolts, nuts and washers and affix proper labels.
    • Record completed bolt order in Logbook. Make proper notation on job order.
    • Deliver finished product and paperwork to Shipping.
    • Properly store drops. Dispose of scrap. Maintain clean work area.

  • Receive incoming freight. Check quantities against manifests for accuracy.

  • Stock material on proper shelf or rack location.

  • Make appropriate data entry in Syteline.
    • Conducts physical count and maintains bolt material inventory.
    • Cross trained to set up, operate and maintain machinery used for cutting, forming or building industrial gaskets as hoses. Use hand tools and finishing equipment.
    • Inspect finished products for and conformance to specifications and quality standards, visually or using instruments. Check for defects. Maintain product quality.
    • Train or assist in training new workers.

  • Use forklift and pallet jack to transfer materials.

    Qualifications

    Skills
    Â
  • Reads and understands English and numerals sufficiently to comprehend verbal and written instructions.

    Â
  • Speaks and writes English and numerals sufficiently to communicate in a clear, understandable manner.

    Â
  • Able to work with numbers with minimal transposition errors over the course of a regular shift.

  • Read and understand all measurement notations on a measuring tape, including 1/32” and 1/16” reading marks.
    Education

  • High school diploma or GED.
    Work Experience
    Â
  • Previous gasket, bolt or hose experience desirable.

    Â
  • Warehouse or fabrication yard or shop experience helpful.
    Physical Requirements

  • Able to lift, climb, bend, stoop, push and pull.

  • Continuous standing and/or walking.

    Â
  • Work frequently or continuously with weights heavier than fifty pounds.

  • Good eye/hand/foot coordination.

    Â
  • Good visual acuity- cannot be colorblind.

  • Ability to work in cold, hot and/or dusty environment, with noisy conditions.

    Â
  • Must be able to become forklift certified.

    Â
  • Must be able to lift fifty pounds independently.
