Main Duties & Responsibilities

Buyer / Planner

Lamons is one of the largest gasket and bolt suppliers in the world, committed to quality and local service. The Buyer / Planner is responsible for the planning, procurement, transferring and distribution of materials, goods and services to meet Lamons objectives and customer requirements across Worldwide intercompany branches.

Responsibilities of the Buyer / Planner:

· Maintains optimum inventory levels to ensure on-time deliveries to meet customer requirements while minimizing carrying costs and premium transportation charges for goods as assigned by Houston Purchasing Manager/Asia Sourcing Manager

· Maintains long term partnerships with suppliers to ensure favorable pricing, quality materialsand on time delivery

· Coordinates and monitors all material and parts deliveries required to meet the daily production schedule assigned planner codes. Pro-actively forecasts, releases and expedites materials required to prevent any interruptions to the production schedule and assures on-time delivery to our customers for all assigned worldwide branches/planner codes

· Assists with the purchasing of materials, supplies, equipment, and services for the operation of the Company by daily timely placement of intercompany transfers/ vendor purchase orders, in addition to inventory items as needed. Confers with requesting parties when specific sources are requested. Investigates and solves problems resulting from material shortages, however caused

· Daily placement of long lead time Houston purchased goods

· Follows purchasing practices and policies to ensure honest, fair, and ethical relationships with vendors. Keeps informed on legal matters that affect purchasing policies

· Generates cost savings by continuing programs and assists in the exploration for new materials, suppliers, and processes to achieve the best possible quality, reliability, prices,continuity, and delivery

· Keeps up-to-date on materials, markets and materials pricing trends that affect Company products

· Coordinates efforts with the Shipping and Receiving functions of the company as required

· Responsible for accurately completing and submitting all assigned reports in a timely manner

· Responsible for complying with the company policies, practices and procedures established by the Purchasing Department

· Effectively interact and cooperate with all departments to meet the purchasing needs of the Company

· Performs other duties as required or assigned


Required Qualifications of the Buyer / Planner:

· Bachelor’s Degree in Business or Technical Field (or 5 years’ equivalent experience)

· Minimum of 3 years’ experience within Inventory Control, Production Scheduling, Materials Planning or Buying

· Knowledge of ERP systems

· Knowledge of production processes and flow of product

· Basic understanding of raw materials

· A good level of English communication skills

Preferred Qualifications of the Buyer / Planner:

· C.P.M or C.P.S.M certification

· Syteline ERP experience

· Fluency in English
